All MC² programs are built as an “Educational Platform” focused on students, ages 15-19. MC² Technology, Inc. Is the first MC² entity to receive its federal 501c(3) designation in 2006. Its focuses are in the fields of math, science, environmental concerns, reading, vocabulary, financial literacy, etc. The not-for-profit also aids those who graduate from high school and have completed the MC² program.
Juvenile Delinquency is a condition, a way of thinking within young lives, in which the standards and norms of society are not followed but resisted. Legally, it defines youth who may be in trouble with “the law,” whose records are sealed until such time as the age of 18 is reached; truancy and dropping out of school can frequently precede being defined as a juvenile delinquent.
NETS, Inc. Is that entity which is focused on the Liberal Arts which includes many aspects of the arts: music, oratory, theater, sculpture, painting, etc., and therefore sponsors many contests which lead to awards and scholarships for students. This also serves to provide students with an in-depth knowledge of the business aspect of Arts & Entertainment.
Bridging the digital divide...
Online curriculum, with specialized target courses, is available to assist any student who recognizes his/her personal need to supplement daily studies with additional coursework/experience. Learning to be comfortable with, and skilled in, the digital world, thereby bridging the “digital divide,” is a key goal of MC² online programming.
To have all students enrolled in this program graduate, with solid GPA’s so that post high school education will be a viable option. MC² will continue post high school support through scholarships, internships, and work-study opportunities which will lead to expansion of the program throughout the state.
Core subjects – environmental/physical science, math, and physics coupled with a financial literacy focus, all leading to career paths, or post high school education, which include internships and work/study opportunities, this focus attacks head-on a preponderance of low test scores in many CT schools. All programs are filmed live on-site.
There are five levels of assessment and evaluation built into the program starting with the tutors who complete weekly evaluations on each participant; instructors who complete monthly evaluations; the Advisory Board who evaluate the entire program, annually; a consulting agency/organization which reviews annually; and the funders who review semi-annually.
MC² is responsible for all funding and program resources, but local sources are expected to provide an agreed upon level of “seed money” to affirm local support of the program. MC² follows an “80/20 Rule” which means that 80+% of all monetary resources go directly to program support and that 20% is used for administrative expenses.
